On 07 June the Australian Government issued an updated travel warning for East Timor strongly advising against travel to East Timor because of the extremely dangerous security situation. Australians in the country are advised to leave. The Travel Warning remains at Category 5 - Do Not Travel.
On Tuesday 07 June we have taken the decision to cancel the remainder of our East Timor trips scheduled to depart in 2006. All travellers will be notified and given the opportunity to transfer to another trip or obtain a full refund (land content only). We very much regret having to take this action and our thoughts and sympathies are with the people of East Timor during this troubled time.
We are confident of being able to resume our normal schedule of trips to East Timor in 2007 and hope that those travellers who have had to cancel their plans this year will travel with us to East Timor in 2007.
For other safety updates, please see our general safety updates page.

Fantastic Trip for those looking to experience a lot of the African continent in a little amount of time. There is a lot of sitting and idle time as we drive and spend time at the campsites so beware if you're looking for something active.

When I booked my trip (UOW), I had no idea I was booking two separate trips. I found this out on the morning of the departure of the first trip (UOB). Technically, that should not have been a problem, but when it came down to it, the handover was slightly problematic.
Our Intrepid leader did not seem to get a clear answer as to when Bundu was supposed to pick us up, and we ended up spending 5 days in Livingstone as opposed to three. Personally I found that a waste of time.
In the end the Bundu man came up a day early because the Intrepid truck had to leave to get back to Nairobi in time and they had to take the tents with them. It all seemed a bit ramshackle.

Loved it.
