Tanzania Travel Information

A leader's perspective...

After several weeks travelling in Tanzania, my old white sneakers were so ingrained with dust and dirt I thought it would never come out. I had thoughts of throwing them out until we stopped at a Maasai village market filled with beautiful wooden carvings for sale, and I came to realise their value. I spotted an ebony carving and was deciding how much I could spend when the stall keeper indicated he wanted my shoes. I was shocked! But, the deal was done and I walked back sock-footed to our vehicle proudly carrying my new carving. A few minutes later I headed back to the market, passing a shoeshine stall on the way. There, ready to be sold, were my sneakers – looking as clean and as new as the day I bought them!
