Mermaids in Denmark?
Anyone familiar with Han Christian Andersen's story about the little mermaid? You won't want to miss this little sculpture a short walk from Copenhagen's city centre. It's free to see and it's a beautiful walk by the sea. She is also famous for getting her head sawed off by some jokers every New Years Eve. Usually the Swedes get the blame for this and we usually find ourselves unwelcome in the fantastic pubs of Copenhagen for a little while afterwards.
Canoeing in Cesky Krumlov
In Cesky Krumlov I rented out a canoe and spent the whole day cruising down the river shouting 'Ahoy!' at anyone/everyone I could. This seemed to be a popular pastime. It was so peaceful and the perfect way to relax. The whole town is a hidden gem - I love the place. Canoeing was great as the water was unpredictable in that it went shallow all of a sudden and then really deep and there was so much to see which kept things very interesting. At the end of the river there is a little waterfall, which was a brilliant surprise. I loved going down it. And at the end of my day the little town is brilliant for taking a walk around it's cobbled paths. Amazing!
